A Brief Golf Book Review: The Greatest Game Ever Played
Tuesday, August 31st, 2010Most of you have read The Greatest Game Ever Played by Mark Frost. For those that have not, I implore you to rectify that, and offer this brief golf book review as a reason why. If it whets your whistle, read another golf book review or two about this book. There’s no shortage of them.
The Greatest Game Ever Played tells the story of the first amateur golfer to win the U.S. Open tournament. The winning of the 1913 U.S. Open by Francis Ouimet is one of those great sport moments like the Miracle on Ice or Bobby Thompson’s shot heard ’round the world. The sheer amount of detail in this book is amazing, but the most impressive aspect is that Frost is able to relate all of it while maintaining a riveting story.
