The Importance of Golf Swing Tempo
Friday, October 1st, 2010When practicing any skill, the key is to execute the skill consistently. This is true of the golf swing. A consistent, smooth golf swing tempo will ensure regularity in driving power and accuracy.
One way to improve golf swing tempo is to pay attention to your balance. If you begin or end your shot off balance, your rhythm will suffer and you’ll have no idea where the ball will end up.
Your body weight distribution will change as the swing proceeds. Before the shot, your weight should be balanced evenly on each foot. During the back swing, 75% of your weight should be on the back foot. At the completion of the shot, 90% of your weight should be on your front foot. The transition between these stages should be smooth and effortless.
The Perfect Golf Swing
Friday, March 19th, 2010If you are pursuing the perfect golf swing, keep these simple points in mind to achieve maximum performance.
* Before beginning the back swing, check your stance. Your feet should be shoulder width apart and you should be standing relatively straight.
* Keep your head down and try not to bend your leading elbow on the back swing.
* Maintain a good grip on the club. If your grip is too loose, it may cause the club face to open up, causing misdirection of your shot.
* As you swing through the ball, snap your hips and wrists simultaneously. Your hips generate the most power and should be square to your target as you follow through.
Follow these steps and you will have the perfect golf swing in no time!
