Great Golf Instruction Books

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Great golf instruction books can do wonders for any player. The trick is finding a compatible author who offers advice and tips that are appropriate for individual readers. Obviously, women get better results from tips provided by female instructors. Less obvious, men get better results from male instructors who have a similar body type.

Over years of practice, instructors tend to develop a swing that is suited to their personal physique. Quite naturally, instructors then assume that the best way to strike a ball is by using the technique that produces their best personal results. These personal biases slip into golf instruction books unintentionally.

Look for a photograph of the author when browsing golf instruction books. If the author is tall and slim like you, the book may contain your personal secret for lower lifetime scoring.

Getting golf instruction for your backswing

Monday, January 4th, 2010

When it comes to golf instruction backswing help, one of the things that you will run into is your takeaway angle. Some players like to take the club back too close to their body. Other players take the club back at an angle that’s too far away from their body. Having a good backswing requires players to have a nice balance between too steep and too rounded.

Likewise, good golf instruction backswing help will deal a lot with your tempo. Too many players end up missing shots because they are taking the club back far too quickly. For these folks, the idea is to slow down and make sure that you have things on the right plane. The speed of your takeaway is not going to help players hit the ball further, but it can cause shots to go awry.

Tiger’s golf swing

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Tiger Woods’ golf swing is one that should not be repeated by the beginning golfer. Though it’s widely considered close to perfect, Tiger makes moves with the lower body that can result in errant shots if the arms are not connected appropriately to the swing. The beginning golfer, or anyone shooting over 100, should focus more on squaring the clubface through the swing and maintaining the “v” shape with their arms at impact. Making the move that Tiger Woods does in his swing would hinder progress more than help. Focusing on keeping the head still while turning the shoulders with the arms would be the next step in the process for the beginning golfer. Tiger’s swing is one that should be emulated by only the most technically sound golfers, as his is the swing that routinely results in the lowest amount of shots.
