Do Only Pros Invest in Golf Swing Instruction?

Friday, June 18th, 2010

You don’t have to be a professional golf player to want to improve your game and enjoy yourself more on the golf course. In fact, if you continue to make the same mistakes over and over again, you will inevitably get frustrated. This happens to many new golf players and after investing in expensive equipment, they give up the game before they ever get started.

Just a few lessons in golf swing instruction will improve your game exponentially. You can get these in person with a professional golfer who also gives lessons or you can opt to watch videos that are dedicated to golf swing instruction. Even after you learn the basics, it can take a while to hone your skills but it is important to learn the proper swing technique when it comes to the game of golf.

A Natural Phenomenon

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

During our journey from novice to intermediate golfer, we are overwhelmed with golf instructions and tips. Some of them we seek out, such as the golf instructions from books and golf instructors. However, many more of those golf instructions come from our friends and the people with which we play and practice golf. A natural phenomenon occurs on the golf course when a golfer is in range of a less experienced golfer. He or she suddenly experiences the undeniable urge to infuse the young golfer with all of their hard-earned wisdom. This can be tough on the young golfer who wants to be polite, but at the same time is having a difficult enough time of it without all the additional noise.

Youth Golf Course Instruction

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Many golf courses throughout the country have begun offering free golf course instruction for young people. My own local course began a similar program just last year, and in order to recruit instructors they offered members free rounds in exchange for donated time. I became involved in the youth golf instruction for selfish reasons, in order to take advantage of that program, but I kept at it once I realized how rewarding the experience was. I must admit that I initially expected instructing kids to be a nightmare scenario. Golf is hard, far too difficult for them, or so I thought. I now realize that kids take to it better than the adults do. If you have the opportunity, then donate some of your time to a great youth golf course instruction program.

Golf Discount Book

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Are you a frequent visitor to your local golf course? If so, you may want to ask them if they have a golf discount book for their course. It’s a great way to save money on activities that you participate in on a regular basis. Many courses have different levels of golf discount books. If you play infrequently, you can purchase a small one and save a little. If you play often, buy the larger golf discount book and you could save up to half off some services. Usually, the driving range and nine or eighteen hole games are the offers most often represented in a golf discount book. You may even find discounts for golf accessories if you are lucky.

Beginner Golf Lesson

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

If you’re just learning how to play golf, do yourself a favor and sign up for a beginner golf lesson. Every golf course should have a golf pro available to give a beginner golf lesson. Make sure you ask about availability because during peak times of the year, you may have to make an appointment and wait a few days. If you visit the golf course during a slow time of the week or year, the golf pro may have time available to immediately give you a beginner golf lesson. The lesson will probably work on your golf swing on the driving range and you can progress to the course in later lessons. Some courses offer a series of beginner golf lessons at a discounted price.

There’s Always Something to Learn

Monday, April 26th, 2010

For lovers of the game of golf, there can never be too much time spent out on the golf course. For most of us, though, there’s also always something to learn and that’s where golf instruction comes in.

There are many ways to gain golf instruction that can help us to become better golfers. Some athletes benefit by utilizing golf instruction videos and DVDs that guide them in improving golf swings, putting, and tee shots, among other things.

Many prefer receiving golf instruction in person at their local golf course. Being critiqued in person and being able to have bad habits recognized and fixed with a golf instructor is invaluable in becoming a better golfer.

Golf instruction is sometimes costly, but it’s certainly worth it for anyone serious about golf.

Mental Golf Tips to Help Clear the Golfer’s Mind

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Depending on one’s mental state, golf can be extremely relaxing, or horribly frustrating. Having a few good mental golf tips to clear the mind while playing golf is very important due to the concentration the sport requires. It is very easy to store negative thoughts in your mind while on the course. It is key not to let these thoughts ruin your mental game while playing (what is supposed to be) a relaxing game.

Leaving all of your negative thoughts at home is most definitely recommended, and one of the best mental golf tips one can give. Life can bring many stressful thoughts to a golfer’s mind. However, when a golfer is on the course, they must only focus on their game, after all, it is their relaxation time. Having a bunch of negative thoughts cycling through your head can make it very difficult to concentrate on where the ball needs to go. If the shot does not go your way, a great mental golf tip is to not get frustrated. Rather than cursing yourself for a bad shot, take a moment to analyze what you did wrong and focus on not making that mistake again. Remember golfers, do not get mad at yourself, there is always another stroke.

Golf Swing Mechanics

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Golf is an excellent sport which can be played by anyone of any age. To become a good golfer, you need to spend many hours playing on the course and practicing both your putting technique as well as your golf swing mechanics. To learn proper golf swing mechanics, it would be best to take a private lesson from a golf pro.

When getting a private lesson from a golf pro, the first thing the pro will be is analyze your golf swing mechanics. They will look at how you are standing, whether your shoulders are square, whether you keep your head down, and how hard you are swinging. After analyzing your swing, the golf pro will be able to give you advice on how you can improve your golf swing.

Choosing the right course

Monday, February 1st, 2010

With so many courses out there at your disposal, you owe it to yourself to get golf course help before committing to any one course. The fact of the matter is that you can get golf course help from lots of different sources. The internet has made this very easy and people who want to play the best course in their area can find golf course help right online.

The best golf course help will come in the form of reviews. If you can find reviews of courses from players who have already played those courses, then it will help you understand the difficulty level, condition, and value of the course. This can make all the difference in dictating whether your course will be a good choice or a poor one.

The Putting Green Can be as Challenging as the Golf Course

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Putting may seem easier because the courses are so much smaller than a genuine golf course, but in truth succeeding on a putting course still requires skill and a knowledgeable handling of your club.

Golf instruction and putting instruction – often referred to as miniature golf – are similar in many ways. Putting is not going to call for full-bodies swings or careful selection of clubs or chips; however, self control is necessary, as well as being able to predict the natural path of the ball.

If you’re serious about mastering the putting green you will need to know how to hold your putting club with surety and precision. Putting greens have a great deal of obstacles to putt around in order to make them appealing to every member of the family. Logic, understanding movement and speed, and the effects of sloping land and wind will get you a more impressive score than luck.
