Need a Free Golf Lesson?

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

You’ve been having all sorts of problems trying to hit your drive straight. Your friends have been telling you to open your stance, change your grip, bend your knees and keep your elbow straight. They’ve totally confused you.

Well the next time you go to the driving range and get a bucket of balls, ask the attendant if there is a golf pro that might be able to give you a few tips. Most ranges do have a golf pro, or at least somebody very proficient in golf, that would be more than happy to help a fellow golfer out. Now, they might not give you a half hour lesson (maybe they will) for free, but they can at least get you pointed in the right direction.

You can get an online golf lesson for free. then head to the driving range to apply the principles.

But is an online golf lesson good enough… This depends upon the player. For some people. an online golf lesson provides the right amount of teaching. They get the basics. a few drills. and they head out to practice what they have seen. For others. there needs to be some self-awareness in knowing that you need the hands-on help of a pro to make it work.

Beginner Golf Lesson

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

If you’re just learning how to play golf, do yourself a favor and sign up for a beginner golf lesson. Every golf course should have a golf pro available to give a beginner golf lesson. Make sure you ask about availability because during peak times of the year, you may have to make an appointment and wait a few days. If you visit the golf course during a slow time of the week or year, the golf pro may have time available to immediately give you a beginner golf lesson. The lesson will probably work on your golf swing on the driving range and you can progress to the course in later lessons. Some courses offer a series of beginner golf lessons at a discounted price.

Starting Your Downswing–the Moment of Truth

Friday, January 29th, 2010

The most important split second in the golf swing is the transition from your backswing to the downswing. That’s the moment of truth.

When you hit from the top (rush your downswing), your power and timing are destroyed. You should strive for an ever-so-slight hesitation at the top of your backswing before you begin your downswing. That sounds easy. It isn’t.

Your best method to develop the needed timing during the transition from backswing to downswing is to practice hitting full shots on the driving range. This is a difficult concept to master and it will take a lot of practice and focus to find the rhythm and timing that’s right for you.

Just remember one thing: don’t try and hit it from the top of your backswing.

Two Mental Golf Tips To Improve Your Game

Monday, January 18th, 2010

If you want to be a successful golfer, you’re going to need some mental golf tips. Believe it or not, they’re often more important than fundamental golf swing tips. This is especially the case for intermediate to advanced golfers. Beginners don’t have much potential to get worse; better players do.

One of the most important mental golf tips is to stop overanalyzing. It’s okay to analyze all you want when you’re at the driving range or practicing your putting, but not when you’re on the golf course. It’s been scientifically proven that when you analyze, your brain focuses more on language than motor skills. This will obviously hamper your potential.

Another good mental golf tip is to focus on past successes, not past failures. Basketball might be a different sport, but Michael Jordan was still one of the greatest athletes that ever lived. He said that his success in pressure moments simply comes from referring to past successes in similar situations.

Getting the best of technology with a golf swing analyzer

Friday, October 9th, 2009

If you want to be successful in the world of golf today, then you have to be willing to use technology to your advantage. Many players are now realizing that they can improve their swing with a golf swing analyzer. The swing is a tough thing to break down on your own. No matter how good you are at the game or how long you’ve been swinging the club, it can be difficult to tell exactly where your problems lie.

That’s where technology comes into play in a big way. With a golf swing analyzer, you will have all of the answers right in front of you. That way, you can know exactly what to work on when you hit the driving range, instead of having to guess and wonder about what might be causing your problems.
