Why Golf Lessons Help Novices Excel On The Green

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Golf is one of the most exciting and fascinating sports that is around today. It seems like it is an easy game to play, but one will have a change of opinion once they step onto the green. Golf lessons help build up the confidence of beginning players. A golfing novice will not develop properly if he or she lacks the confidence to attack the ball.

Golf lessons help novices take their game to the next level. It will take some time, but they will be able to excel if they stick to a rigid training routine. The training routine should include all of the fundamental drills that will help a players execute well in different situations. Even the masters of the green began as amateurs!

A Golf Tip Just for Women

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Most women can not hit a ball as far as a man. To compensate for the basic difference in physical strength between the sexes, women usually play from a tee that is considerably shorter to the green then the men’s tee. All other aspects of the game are unchanged. If a woman has 180 yards left to the green, she may have a difficult time getting the ball all the way to the hole. Instead of carrying all the usual irons in your bag, you might replace your 3 and 4 iron with a 5 and 7 wood. These clubs are actually easier to hit off the fairway and can get you greater distance than an iron. A 7 wood has the loft of an 8 or 9 iron, but can hit as far as a 5 iron.

Golf Lessons & Tips Aren’t Always the Answer

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

We’re all looking for those golf lessons and tips that can take our game to the next level. However, sometimes we look too hard. If golf lessons and tips are no longer raising your game, perhaps it’s time to return to the basics. Consider this short game tip:

Novices and intermediate players struggle with those times when they are fairly close to the green but in some long grass or similarly bad lie. An alternative to the traditional method is to use a putter by striking the ball at top and back. Doing so makes it pop up with overspin so that it will roll forward when it hits the green. The point here is that when your game starts to plateau, it’s important to be adventurous. That secret sauce you are seeking may come from inside.

Golf Swing Analysis

Monday, August 16th, 2010

One of the best things you can do if you want to improve your golf game is to get a golf swing analysis. A PGA Professional Instructor can help you correct any problems with your swing by breaking it down to all of its parts and seeing where your swing has gone wrong. They often will take a video of your swing and be able to use it to show you exactly what you are doing wrong. When you actually see, in slow motion, what you are doing, it is much easier to understand the flaw or flaws in your swing. It may be simply a matter of turning your shoulder a little more or it may be your backswing is at the wrong angle. A good golf swing analysis will get you back on the right track.

Essential Short Game Tips

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

Golfers know that a good short game can shave strokes off a score. Follow these golf chipping tips and your short game will improve:

One of the most important golf chipping tips is to let the hands do the leading. The reason for many messed up chip shots is that the head of the golf club beats the hands to the ball. This turns the chip shot into an upward strike instead of a downward strike.

The golf chipping stance is lower than the normal golf stance. Bend your knees and hips and choke up on the club. Your feet should be closer to the ball than during other shots. There should be no wrist action through the shot. The shot should be performed free and easy; let the momentum of the club do all the work.

Golf Tips Putting

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

There’s a saying in golf that you “drive for show and putt for dough”. What that means is that when it comes to be successful in golf you’ve got to be able to make putts. The good news is putting is the easiest part of the game to practice, and if you really want to improve your game, make time to practice!

Every putt is a straight putt… If you practice making 4 ft, straight in putts, you’ll be able to groove your stroke and build confidence. When you get on the course and are facing longer putts, keep in mind the way to be consistent is starting the ball on the line you choose every time. Make the same stroke you made for the 4 footers, and just adjust for speed. Don’t change your stroke because a putt breaks left or right.

Getting the Best Out of a Beginner Golf Lesson

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Your first golf lesson is the time to start out with an open mind and give full attention to the lessons you will learn. Bad habits in your swing or stance at an early stage can damage your game down the road. When your instructor models how to stand, where to place your hands and how to do a follow through, try to match his or her movements as close as possible. You also must practice these skills after the lesson to help train your muscles to the proper technique. Also, be open to constructive criticism that your instructor offers. This way you can get the most out of your beginner golf lesson.

Golf’s new frontier

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

For the longest time. golf has been a game shrouded in mystery and played on the back nines of country clubs around the United States. With technology taking hold. golf is becoming a more advanced game. These days. you don’t have to leave your home to get a lesson. You can get an online golf lesson for free. then head to the driving range to apply the principles.

But is an online golf lesson good enough… This depends upon the player. For some people. an online golf lesson provides the right amount of teaching. They get the basics. a few drills. and they head out to practice what they have seen. For others. there needs to be some self-awareness in knowing that you need the hands-on help of a pro to make it work.
