Chipping for the win
Monday, April 12th, 2010If I were asked to give out some of the best golf chipping tips to players who wanted to improve, I would tell them that it’s all about keeping their head down and concentrating. These two golf chipping tips will save far more bad shots than almost anything else. Too many people want to hit their chips, then look up to see if it’s going in the hole. This opens up a number of bad possibilities. You might skull the chip or you might hit under it, leaving you nowhere near the hole.
If you keep your head down and you concentrate, you will put the ball somewhere near the hole. You won’t even need to look, then, because you will know with certainty that the ball is right beside the pin.
Chipping to a Win?
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010A lot of people talk about improving their golf short game. And the easiest way is to work on your chipping. Pick the spot near the hole that the ball needs to land on in order to set you up for an easy putt. Now picture a giant target there, just like the ones you see in the cartoons, with a bull’s eye and everything. That’s where you’re going to hit it. Just remember to account for how much green there is; a lot of green means you can hit it more directly and let it roll. Otherwise, let it try to bounce to absorb some of the momentum and not roll out of control. Practice this method a few times and you’ll find your golf short game greatly improved!
