As novice and intermediate golfers, we require golf instruction lessons in addition to a lot of practice in order to raise the level of our game dramatically. There are many avenues available to us to get that training. Golf instruction lessons are available at the course, at the range, in books, on demand on our televisions, and even online. Online golf instruction lessons are especially convenient since they are so diverse, and they allow us to practice at any time of the day or night and from the comfort of our homes. Sometimes it takes some convincing in order for a golfer to believe that online golf videos can help him or her. People don’t generally respect the value of mental practice until they’ve experienced the results.

Many golf courses throughout the country have begun offering free golf course instruction for young people. My own local course began a similar program just last year, and in order to recruit instructors they offered members free rounds in exchange for donated time. I became involved in the youth golf instruction for selfish reasons, in order to take advantage of that program, but I kept at it once I realized how rewarding the experience was. I must admit that I initially expected instructing kids to be a nightmare scenario. Golf is hard, far too difficult for them, or so I thought. I now realize that kids take to it better than the adults do. If you have the opportunity, then donate some of your time to a great youth golf course instruction program.

A lot of people talk about improving their golf short game. And the easiest way is to work on your chipping. Pick the spot near the hole that the ball needs to land on in order to set you up for an easy putt. Now picture a giant target there, just like the ones you see in the cartoons, with a bull’s eye and everything. That’s where you’re going to hit it. Just remember to account for how much green there is; a lot of green means you can hit it more directly and let it roll. Otherwise, let it try to bounce to absorb some of the momentum and not roll out of control. Practice this method a few times and you’ll find your golf short game greatly improved!

If you are in charge of buying a book for a person who really loves golf, then be on notice that there are lots of choices. You won’t just go into a store and ask for the best golf book, because so many solid ones exist. With that being said, you should look for a PGA golf book in order to come up with the best possible choice. You might get a PGA golf book with histories of the most popular players or run downs of the best courses.

Whichever kind of book you choose, this will help to make sure that it’s one worth reading. The options being what they are, you will have to get very unlucky to find a bad book right now.

When you’re only a few yards away from the putting green, it’s time to pull out your chip shot. This shot is usually played with a low lofted club in order to get the ball rolling on the green as soon as possible.

1) First determine how far you want the ball to loft and how far you want it to roll once its on the ground

2) Choose the club based on the amount of height you need

3) Remember distance in the air is determined by the amount of back swing (don’t swing harder to get the ball to go further)

4) Keep your wrists flat. If you can’t keep your wrists from breaking, try your putting grip

5) Move the handle of your club a couple inches further toward the target to promote a downward stroke and keep your weight on the left as you swing through
