The Best Golf Tips for Your Short Game

Monday, December 20th, 2010

A good short game is an essential component of a complete set of golf skills. Here are some tips on how to improve your short game.

- Pick an exact target where the ball will land.
- Keep the golf ball back in your stance so that the club first hits the golf ball, and then hits the ground.
- Learn how to chip with several different irons. The shorter the iron, the shorter the distance the ball will roll after landing.
- Keep your hands ahead of the club during the swing.
- Don’t look up when your club contacts the ball — keep your head down.
- Make sure that you accelerate the club throughout the swing, so that the follow-through is complete right through the end of the swing.

How Do You Buy Golf Clubs?

Friday, October 15th, 2010

It can be quite confusing, especially to the beginning golfer, trying to decide what golf clubs to buy. A set of clubs can cost a few hundred dollars or several thousand dollars. There are clubs that are cast in a mold and others that are made from forged steel. There are different types of shafts and different groove patterns. Hundreds of popular Drivers, all claiming to hit the ball straighter and farther and when it comes to putters, there are more choices than one could imagine. My advice would be to purchase a modestly priced set when you are first learning to play the game. For maybe $300.00 to $400.00 you can get a complete set of decent clubs and a golf bag. Practice and play with them and if your interest and skills develop, eventually you can buy a better set.

Golf Clubs Help

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

If you’re in the market for a new set of golf clubs and need help in deciding on the makeup of your set, consider adding hybrid clubs to your bag. Hybrid golf clubs are a combination of fairway woods and irons, making them versatile weapons in your arsenal.

A hybrid club has a club head that is similar to a fairway wood, with a low center of gravity that can help to get a ball airborne. However, unlike fairway woods, hybrids have shorter shafts like irons, which make them easier to control. Consider swapping out the long irons in your golf set with hybrid clubs. They will help you to hit the ball farther and with more control than hard to hit long irons, which require greater skill to hit.

Look Into Golf Lesson DVDs

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Whether you are new to the game of golf, or have been swinging the clubs for years, there is always room for improvement, even if you aren’t willing to confess that to your friends. If you are interested in improving your swing and bringing your stroke count down, consider a golf lesson DVD. Golfers have been using videos to get tips on their stroke for decades, and that trend continues now that we’ve moved to the DVD age. No matter what your current skill level is, there is a golf lesson DVD available to help you. From those who have just purchased their first set of clubs, to those who have thrown more clubs into water hazards than they’ll admit to, golf lesson DVDs can improve your game.
