Starting Your Downswing–the Moment of Truth
Friday, January 29th, 2010The most important split second in the golf swing is the transition from your backswing to the downswing. That’s the moment of truth.
When you hit from the top (rush your downswing), your power and timing are destroyed. You should strive for an ever-so-slight hesitation at the top of your backswing before you begin your downswing. That sounds easy. It isn’t.
Your best method to develop the needed timing during the transition from backswing to downswing is to practice hitting full shots on the driving range. This is a difficult concept to master and it will take a lot of practice and focus to find the rhythm and timing that’s right for you.
Just remember one thing: don’t try and hit it from the top of your backswing.
The Putting Green Can be as Challenging as the Golf Course
Tuesday, January 26th, 2010Putting may seem easier because the courses are so much smaller than a genuine golf course, but in truth succeeding on a putting course still requires skill and a knowledgeable handling of your club.
Golf instruction and putting instruction – often referred to as miniature golf – are similar in many ways. Putting is not going to call for full-bodies swings or careful selection of clubs or chips; however, self control is necessary, as well as being able to predict the natural path of the ball.
If you’re serious about mastering the putting green you will need to know how to hold your putting club with surety and precision. Putting greens have a great deal of obstacles to putt around in order to make them appealing to every member of the family. Logic, understanding movement and speed, and the effects of sloping land and wind will get you a more impressive score than luck.
